World-class support for education technology business ideas – the application period for EdTech Incubator Helsinki is open

May 10, 2022

EdTech Incubator Helsinki is the first business incubator programme in Finland focused on supporting young growth companies in the field of education technology. The application period for the programme is once again open. Ten early-stage teams showing the most potential will be selected for the Incubator programme. The city’s experts will help to fine-tune the business ideas of the teams selected for the programme and work together with the teams to turn them in to commercialisable, scalable and international business concepts.

EdTech Incubator Helsinki is an 18-week programme that focuses on the sales and marketing of companies, financing, building a team and network and enhancing pedagogical impact. You can apply for the Incubator programme by 5 June 2022.

“Helsinki embodies the same level of expertise and support for companies as Silicon Valley, but here everything is so much more personal,” says Yazeed Maswadeh, the founder of Beesh and EdTech Incubator Helsinki participant.

Incubator participants praise received help

The results of the first companies that participated in EdTech Incubator Helsinki show a lot of promise. Start-ups having completed the Incubator programme have praised the city’s help in, among other things, setting up a business, finding partners, building a business and product plan and improving the pedagogical impact of the product to a new level.

The EdTech Incubator Helsinki programme includes workshops, mentoring, speeches by experts in the field and strong network support. The teams will get to co-create their products and solutions together with learners and pedagogical experts as part of the Helsinki Education Hub’s experimental platform services. All work will be aimed at optimising the business plan and success. At the end of the programme, the participants will have the opportunity to pitch their innovation in front of key influencers and investors in the field and receive guidance for finding the right path in the city’s business service offering for their future – such as continuing to the accelerator, making use of the city’s experimental platform services or simply finding the right investors.

Support for 50 companies by end of 2023

The City of Helsinki aims to have 50 young education technology growth companies complete the EdTech incubator Helsinki programme by the end of 2023. The city implements the programme in cooperation with a wide network of experts in the EdTech field and business in general. The Incubator batch about to start is the third.

The third application round of the EdTech Incubator Helsinki programme is open from 9 May to 5 June 2022. Potential teams meeting the Incubator criteria will be invited for an interview to share their ideas. The programme is free of charge for the participants, and the maximum number of teams per application round is ten.
